Jacqueline L. Wolter “Jackie” passed away suddenly on January 12, 2025, at Northwest Community Hospital. Born on February 21, 1936, Jacqueline was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother to her large family.
Jackie was preceded in death by James Wolter, her husband of 65 years. Jackie was a proud southpaw and stayed home to raise five left-handed children, after early years as a nurse. She was a loving mother to Cindy (Roger) Franz, Sue (Dave) Rizzi, Kathy (Tom) Olcese, James (Lorna) Wolter, and Jennifer (Jeff) Haidu. She was immensely loved and cared for by her children. She typically ended daily calls with “good night for now” or “talk to you tomorrow, maybe…”
She was a devoted Nana to Tristan (Johanna Gonzalez) Franz, Andrew (Sara Aghazadeh) Rizzi, Jack Rizzi, Megan Wolter, Sarah Wolter, and Natalie Haidu. Her face would light up at the mention of her grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Thea Franz Gonzalez, whose arrival brought her immense happiness.
In her personal life, Nana was known for her exceptional culinary skills, quick wit, and affinity for reading and games. Her signature dishes marked nearly every family celebration. However, replication of her dishes was often hilariously complicated by illegible hand-writing and missing recipe ingredients. Her love for reading and wordplay games was insatiable, always ready for a crossword or Jumble…provided a working pen could be found!
Good night for now, Nana; talk with you tomorrow, maybe. May you rest in peace forever.
The family will be receiving guests at St. James in Arlington Heights on March 1st. The Memorial Mass at 10am will be preceded by a reception in the Narthex of the church, beginning at 9am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Jacqueline’s honor be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
