

James M. Fisher (Jim), 76, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Jesus on April 5, 2026. This followed a long illness with Alzheimer's Disease. Jim was a resident on the Memory Unit of Warren Barr Buffalo Grove for 2 ½ years, where he passed away under hospice care.
Jim was the beloved husband of Anne E. Cardascio for 42 years, the loving father of Jeff Fink (Danielle Piacente), Jennifer, Alicia, Ross (Ashley), and Harry Fisher and Jen Walsh. He also loved his grandchildren: Jazzmin, Tatum, Pierce, Lily, Alice, Seth, Ivy and the late Carsten. He was the son of the late Jack L. Fisher, the late Billie Marie Fisher and the late Morjeanna Duket. Fond brother of Roger Thompson, Colin Fisher, Suzanne Angelis, the late Rodney (Brook) Crumley and the late Mark Fisher.
Jim graduated from St. John's Military Academy in Delavan, Wisconsin in 1968 and then went on to graduate from Northern Illinois University in 1972 with a degree in Physical Education. He was a social studies and physical education teacher for many years, in both New Mexico and Illinois.
Jim came to know Jesus as his personal savior in 1982. After which, he continued his career in a more personal and distinct way to help and love people. He was involved athletically as a referee and umpire in several sports. During his teaching years he ran summer basketball and golf camps, earning him the name "Coach Fisher."
After his career in athletics, he became founder and president of the IDS Group (Illinois' DUI Specialists), a company he ran for nearly 20 years before passing it onto his dedicated staff. Jim was a licensed Drug and Alcohol counselor and a DUI specialist, using his skills to help many people redirect their lives, including sharing the Gospel with them.
Jim will be remembered for his love and following of Jesus Christ and for his fierce love for his wife Annie and his six children. His smiling heart will be missed.
