

James W. Freyerof Mount ProspectJames W. Freyer was born on October 11, 1945 in Chicago to Frank and Mercedes (nee Dietz) Freyer. He died Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Arlington Heights.Jim worked as a Middle School Science Teacher for School District 25, teaching in the South and Thomas Middle Schools from 1968 until his retirement in 2002. After retirement he served as a substitute teacher until June of 2014. He was active with the llinois Science Olympiad from its inception and was an arbitrator after retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, where he served as a deacon. Jim was very involved with the church, including teaching Sunday School and going on mission trips. He enjoyed traveling the world, attending high school sporting events, cross-stitching, playing Sudoku, and listening to Jazz. Jim loved to spend time with his family and was loved by all.Jim is survived by his spouse Jane (nee Wolski), children, Cara (Walter) Howard, Aimee Freyer, and Julie (Leon) Halatek; grandchildren, Leon "Lee" Halatek, and Josephine "Josie" Halatek; mother, Mercedes Freyer; sister, Mercedes "Mickey" Thurston; many nieces and nephews and a larger extended family.He was preceded in death by his father, Frank C. Freyer.Visitation Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 3:30 pm until the 7:00 pm Funeral Service, all being held in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. Dunton, Arlington Heights.
