James D. Golemis, 88 of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Mt. Prospect was born August 25, 1934 in Chicago to Myron and Bessie (Kachiroubas) Golemis and passed away March 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Jim was the beloved husband of Sharon L (Nero) Golemis; loving father of Victoria (Scott) Bartel, Betty (Andrew) Larson and Michael (Nina) Golemis; cherished grandfather of Torrin, Aksel, Max, Kate, Shaun and Ariana and dear brother of Diane (John) Pagoulatos and the late Fr. Nicholas Golemis.
Jim had a successful career in sales with Superior Coffee & Foods, a Sara Lee company. Prior to that, he opened and operated his own bowling pro shop, complimenting his passion and success as a semi-professional bowler in the city of Chicago. Jim’s greatest accomplishment was his family, for whom he made many selfless sacrifices and of whom he was very proud. He was a devoted husband to Sharon for over 53 years, a highly affectionate and involved father, coach and role model for his children and grandchildren, and a loyal friend. He showed his family unconditional love, instilled in them an uncompromising work ethic and demonstrated through his actions the power of his humility, strength and integrity. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Family and friends will gather on Friday, March 10 at 10:15 AM at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Road in Palatine for a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) appreciated.
