

James Mackey was the husband of the late Linda Mackey; the father of Kevin Mackey of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Kelly Allen of Glenview, Illinois; the grandfather of Mac Allen; and the brother of Robert Mackey.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1970 and became an auditor at the Arthur Young Accounting Firm.
In 1973, he went to work at Marketing Electronics Corporation, which was sold to Metromail in 1980, where he became the Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions.
In 1987, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development, and he continued in this position when Metromail became part of Experian.
In 2002 he went to work as the Chief Financial Officer of MarketerNet, and he continued in this position when Marketernet became part of Tranzact and Datamyx in turn.
He served as a financial advisor for Northern Illinois Angels, and worked for various private equity firms as needed.
He was extremely active at St. James Catholic Church, Arlington Heights, where he served as the chair of the finance committee.
He donated both his time and money to a number of charities.
He was an avid fan of both professional and college sports, especially of the University of Illinois.
He loved his family more than anything else in the world.
His perseverance during his battle against cancer over the last 6 years of his life was an inspiration to many.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2025, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Mass is Monday, February 3, 2025, 12:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will follow at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum.
