James "Papa Bear” Stavropoulos, joined his wife Mary, in Heaven Thursday, July 14, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Chicago, December 21, 1929 to George and Constantine (nee Connellas) Stavropoulos. He was the youngest and last surviving sibling of the five sons and one daughter that George and Constantine had, Chris, Gus, Sam, Pete, James Stavropoulos and Becca Dennison. He married the love of his life, Mary (nee Marquez) in 1952 and they were married just shy of 50 years before Mary’s untimely death in 2001. James and his four brothers started and ran a tool and die and manufacturing company, Die-Mate Corporation in 1956 and worked side by side for over 45 years and had many great stories of their years working together. James never stopped learning and was more tech savvy than most of his kids. He loved showing them new things that their I-phones could do.
James is survived by his children, Jim (Betsy) Stavropoulos, JoAnn (Scott) Bremer, Kenny (Elissa) Stavropoulos, Michael (Dawn) Stavropoulos, his grandchildren, Ashley Stavropoulos, Matt (Megan) Bremer, Chris (Jessica) Bremer, James Stavropoulos, Michael Stavropoulos, Mary Stavropoulos and Jordyn Stavropoulos.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family and his adult grandchildren will certainly miss their kind and wise “Papa”.
