

Janet Cerek beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 in Arlington Heights, Illinois at the age of 94. Born December 1, 1931 in Poland, Janet’s life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and strength.
She was the cherished wife of the late Ernest Cerek, and the beloved sister of the late Edward (Jean) Siska and the late Henry (Elaine) Siska. Janet’s legacy lives on through her children, Debra (Robert) Barron, Gail (Michael) Fredian, Gregory Cerek, Gary (Janet) Cerek, who carry forward her values of love, perseverance, and family unity.
Her grandchildren: Robin (Joseph) Dobek, Samantha (Steven) Squillante, Amanda (Piotr) Maniak, Paige Barron, Julia Fredian, Abbey Cerek and Madeleine Cerek were the lights of her life, each a source of pride and joy. She also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren: Brady, Payton, Declan, Emilia and Ayden, whose lives she touched with warmth and wisdom.
Janet leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews and their families, whose enduring connection over the years brought her comfort and joy. Her life was defined by a deep devotion to those she loved. Janet maintained many long friendships, most of whom preceded her in death.
A service will be held to honor her memory, and her family invites those who knew and loved Janet to reflect on the beauty of her life and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM at church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made in memory of Janet to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), an organization that Janet supported.
