Of Arlington Heights
Janice Cawley was born August 3, 1942 in Chicago to Walter and Marion (nee Barron) Dellert. After a two-year battle with AML Leukemia Janice died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 15, 2020.
Janice met her husband, Marty, while a student at Kelvyn Park High School. After graduation, Janice worked in the editing department for the American Medical Association (AMA). After five years of dating, Janice and Marty were married at Queen of All Saints Basilica in Chicago. Soon after, they started their family by having three children, Beth, Kevin, and Katie, and then moved to Arlington Heights.
Janice was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Wayside Church for the past 50 years where she volunteered at the school and was a member of the Woman’s Club and OLW bowling league. Janice also enjoyed playing tennis and sewing but her passion was painting. She was a member of the Arlington Heights and Elk Grove Village Art Guilds. Janice loved boating and was the pontoon boat captain at the family lake house in Wisconsin where she graciously hosted family events and entertained friends.
Janice created many beautiful things, but her most precious creation was the family she made with her husband of 57 years, Marty.
Janice is survived by her husband Martin Cawley; her children Elizabeth (Peter) Giarelli, Kevin Cawley, Kathleen (Daniel) Dolan; her grandchildren Matthew, Mark, Zachary, Megan and Brianna; her brothers Bruce (Patty) Dellert and John (Kim) Dellert.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sharon Heitz.
