

Jean C. DeckerOf Arlington HeightsJean C. Decker, (nee Comfield), was born on September 28, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Eleanor (nee Amberg) Comfield. She died Monday, October 5, 2015 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois.After graduation from Foreman High School in 1944, she toured with the USO singing to wounded soldiers in VA hospitals across the country. After the tour, she and her singing partner performed professionally in many of the big nightclubs and hotels in Chicago and the Midwest. She did some modeling, and as an actress landed a role on a soap opera that was filmed live in Chicago called "Hawkins Falls." She did other television work, a few television commercials, and also appeared on "The Ransom Sherman Show," "Your Show of Shows" with Sid Caesar, and the "The George Gobel Show." Her business career brought her to the Personnel Department of Blue Cross Blue Shield. She later met her future husband, a boy she had a crush on in high school, and they married in 1952. Jean gave up her career to be a full time wife and mother. She was the most amazing mother two daughters could wish for, as well as a loving, caring, and proud grandmother and mother-in-law. The love, kindness and grace she showed to everyone is how she will most be remembered.Jean is survived by her daughters, Susan Decker, and Barbara Decker (Ted) Wachholz; and her grandchildren, Meredith (Matthew) Hodge, and Teddy (Sammy) Wachholz.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard G.; and her parents.Visitation from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N.
