After high school, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she worked as a secretary and met her future husband, Austin, on a blind date. They married on November 22, 1952.
Joanne dedicated her life to her family, and she embraced her role as a homemaker. After her six children were grown, she cared for infants at Park View Montessori School for nearly 20 years where her nurturing nature was greatly appreciated by parents and staff.
Joanne was always happiest spending time with family and friends. She is remembered for her bright smile, warmth and kindness. She doted on her grandchildren and showered them with love.
During the final years of her life, Joanne lived at the Moorings of Arlington Heights Presbyterian Homes where she received excellent care and loving support from the staff.
Joanne lived her life guided by her strong faith and found solace in her religious beliefs. A celebration of life service to honor her memory will be held at a later date.
