Of Schaumburg
It is with great sorrow that we share news of the passing of our sister, Kathleen M. Harty of Schaumburg, on April 20, 2022. Daughter of the late John J. and Edna M. (Carew) Harty and sister of Maureen, Kevin (husband, Rick Tempone), and the late Brendan, the late Michael, and the late John Patrick Harty.
Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Arlington Heights. She was a graduate of St. James Grade School, Sacred Heart of Mary High School, and Illinois State University. As a proud alum of SHM, Kathleen planned numerous reunion activities for the SVHS/SHM Class of 1971. She was also adopted by the SHM Class of 1972. In 2013, she organized a 50th Jubilee for all SHM graduates at the original school in Rolling Meadows. On that day Kathleen shared "It does not matter that there's no longer a Sacred Heart of Mary High School, because we are Sacred Heart of Mary".
She had a successful career in sales for more than 40 years, working for many national greeting card and giftware companies. Later in her career, she worked at Crate and Barrel. She loved her Crate family.
In addition to her sister and brother, she is survived by many, many friends from all walks of her life who brought endless joy to her. Her close friends, Kathy Dalton Healy, Tom Mullin, Deb Konicek, Lisa Carter, and Father Pat Render, were by her side throughout this journey. She loved and adored Christine, Grace, and Ella Carter, and she loved being their "Kacky Party." And her furry companion, Riglee, was always by her side.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Patrick Render, CSV, at St. James Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd. in Arlington Heights, Illinois, on Friday, April 29, at noon. The Mass will be streamed on the church website www.stjamesah.org. or click the link in "Events" below. Attendees are asked to wear her favorite color, blue and are invited to bring a photo of Kathleen to share with others.
Donations in Kathleen's memory may be made to several charities important to her and her family: The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition https://ovarian.org/; Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue https://www.echodogs.org/ ; or MANNA, 420 N. 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130, https://mannapa.org/.
