Kathleen R. Judge

Kathleen R. Judge, a beloved member of the Buffalo Grove community, peacefully passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She was born March 10, 1931, to Patrick Joseph and Mary Ellen (nee Rogers) Foy.

Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Kathleen embarked on a new chapter of her life when she arrived in the United States in 1959, along with her two young children. She faced many challenges with resilience and strength, building a life for her family in her new homeland. Kathleen and her husband Paddy made their home on the northwest side Chicago. They were happily married for 49 years.

Kathleen was a loving and devoted mother, survived by her three children: Marian (Frank) Layo, Niall (Celeste) Judge, and Paula (Tom) Voth. She took great joy in nurturing her children and later cherished her role as a grandmother to her five grandchildren: Courtney (Steve) Flashing, Kelly (Kevin) Wiley, Robert Judge, Ryan, and Michael Voth. Her legacy continued as she became a great-grandmother to Nathan, and Olivia Flashing, and Addison Wiley. Kathleen was also survived by her sister Eileen Ashe. She also cherished and loved all her nieces and nephews near and far.

Kathleen dedicated many years of her life as a bookkeeper for Polk Bros, a renowned department store. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic made her an invaluable asset to the company. Kathleen's commitment to her work for 32 years and her friendly nature left a lasting impression on all those she encountered.

Outside of her professional life, Kathleen found solace in her garden. She had a green thumb and delighted in nurturing her plants and flowers. Her garden, a testament to her love for nature and beauty, brought her immense joy and an award for the best garden in the community. Kathleen was also a member of the Pioneers club, where she enjoyed socializing with like-minded individuals.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Patrick Judge; her parents; her sister Teresa (Michael) Pantony, and her brothers, Patrick (Sally) Foy, Frank (Clare) Foy, and Tom Foy.

Visitation to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers 9:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2023 from the funeral home proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Maryhill Cemetery.
