Born September 30, 1929, in Berwyn, Illinois, he was the son of Max and Elsie (née Riedel) Bogda and a proud graduate of Morton High School and Augustana College, where he pursued his love of mathematics and basketball. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and sister Frances Stafford, who were a close part of his early life.
Ken served his country honorably as an Army corporal during the Korean War, as part of the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He returned home to build a distinguished career spanning several decades, working in fields ranging from drafting and auditing to becoming an early pioneer in computer systems engineering with IBM. He later worked as a systems analyst until his retirement in 2000.
On Valentine's Day 1968, Ken proposed to the love of his life, Jane Larson, and the two were married later that year on July 20 in Oak Park, Illinois. Together they raised two children, Janet and Jeff, and built a home full of warmth, sports, and adventure. In retirement, Ken and Jane traveled extensively — from Alaska and Hawaii to Australia, New Zealand, the Panama Canal, and beyond — and spent many winters in Chandler, Arizona and autumns in Orlando, often including the whole family.
A man of sharp intellect, genuine curiosity, and quiet dependability, Ken was a proud husband and father. He is survived by his wife Jane; his children Janet (Scott) Casbon and Jeff (Shelly) Bogda; and his grandchildren Caylee, Carter, and Connor Casbon and Addie and Augusta Bogda.
