Lenore W Tarchala was born on May 7, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Eleanor Camphausen. She passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at her home.
Lenore grew up on the South Side and worked in Chicago at Quaker Oats as a secretary during her twenties. She was independent and enjoyed taking a train trip to New York City to visit her Aunt Vicky on Broadway. Lenore enjoyed ballroom dancing and it was at a dance sponsored by the YMCA in Chicago that she met her future husband, Adolph. She and Adolph married and later moved to Arlington Heights to raise their three children. Lenore loved going on family vacations and later traveling to Europe with Adolph. She loved gardening and tending to their roses, and music and volunteering for fund raising for the Community Concert Series. She enjoyed their “couples club” gatherings with friendships that spanned 40+ years and many family celebrations filled with good food, red wine, and laughter. When her youngest was in high school, Lenore worked in the personnel department at Arlington Federal Savings and Loan. In addition, she was a 60+ year member of First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights.Lenore is survived by her children, William (Jackie) Tarchala, Carol (Gerry) Puza, and son-in-law George Dyckes; her grandchildren, Ian, Jennifer, Madeleine, and Michael; her step-grandchildren, Wendy, Wayne, Chet, and Craig; her step-great grandchildren, Julia, Caroline, Anna, and Andrew; her sister, Doris Lehman; her brother-in-law Edward Arkin, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Adolph Tarchala; her daughter, Susan Dyckes; her sister, Jean Arkin, and her parents.A memorial service and reception will be held at a future date in 2021.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org), or to First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights (firstpresah.org).
