Leslie Harvey Howell

March 28, 1944 – July 20, 2025

Leslie Howell, born healthy but not breathing, was revived by a midwife and went on to live a long, adventurous life. As a boy, he dreamed of many adventures, most of which he achieved.

Beginning work at 15, he mastered many trades and activities in food retail, automotive work, mobile home building, and RC planes and ultralights. Later, he became involved in truck driving, boating and fishing, flying fixed wing aircraft, computer building and electrical and mechanical engineering.

He cherishes memories of his children and grandchildren along with his family members and boyhood friends. He is thankful for the comradery of his recent adulthood friends, especially Pete Warenski, Stacia Jones, Don Linder and Mike Dukes.

He wishes to be remembered for his work and volunteering in teaching RC model airplane and helicopter flight and building, teaching and tutoring a variety of math, programming, sciences, computer aided engineering, and computer building and maintenance work.

He will be remembered by his wife and his wife’s family, his siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his mother, fathers, a brother, a sister and a son.

A visitation for Leslie will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A visitation will occur Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am. A graveside service with military honors will occur at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 East Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 following the service.
