Louise C. Prager, a resident of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on August 4, 1928, to William and Bertha Heinemann, Louise's was beloved wife of the late Gordon W. Prager, fun loving sister to Alice (the late Guy) Eisenhuth and to her deceased brothers and sister the late Walter, Wilbert (Ann), Ruth, David (Betty Lou), Robert and Wallace Heinemann. She was the beloved aunt to the late Wilbert (Laureen) Heinemann and Guy (Susan), Wayne (Wanda), Glenn (Cheryl) and Richard (Susan) Eisenhuth. Also the great aunt to their children and grand children.
Louise always wore a friendly and confident smile. Raised under difficult circumstances during the depression era, Louise was humble, hard working and found her greatest happiness in the loving embrace of her family. During her youth she attended St. Peter Lutheran School and graduated from Arlington High School. Louise was known for her unique athletic abilities. She and her sister Alice were stellar performers on the basketball courts and softball fields. As an adult, her nephews marveled at her bowling talents. She’d effortlessly and without fanfare rack up high scores on the lanes, and that friendly smile would always follow the scattering of the bowling pins. While she was never the loudest at family gatherings, she always displayed that “Heinemann humor” and employed it at just the right moments.
Marriage brought Louise together with Gordon, and their union was a testament to enduring love. They relocated to Bethel Park, PA and though they had no children of their own, her husband loved all animals and their household soon became a veritable zoo. It featured a diverse assortment of animals, ranging from piranhas to Iguanas along with a menagerie of assorted bird species & a host of others. Louise dutifully & skillfully managed the mini zoo, always with a friendly smile. She was a central figure in the lives of her nephews; always taking the time to engage in friendly conversation.
Louise's later years were spent at Luther Village in the comfort of her hometown. She was a fixture at family events and a companion to her sister Alice. Even as the world changed around her, Louise remained a constant – a source of stability and love for all who knew her.
Louise's absence will be deeply felt, but the beauty of her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Louise’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Link: https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_icid=home-btn-donate-now
