Margaret (Marcy) Lind (nee Fritz) was born October 17, 1928 to John and Katherine Fritz in Chicago, IL. She was one of five children; Maryanne, Jean and the late Larry and Jack. Her father owned a butcher shop in Chicago and when her father passed away when Marcy was 12, her mother took over the butcher shop and raised the five children on her own. Marcy enjoyed life in Chicago, working at the telephone company, volunteering and dancing. She met Harold (Hal) in 1947 at the telephone company and he was relentless in his pursuit to date her…catcalls, whistles, flirting. She broke up with her boyfriend, started to date Hal and they married on June 26, 1948. They moved to Elm St. in Mt. Prospect, IL and began the suburban live in the 50’s; church at St. Raymond’s, living in a modest home the same as all the others, one car, large families and all the neighbors were friends. Marcy and Hal started their large family not long after they were married and had 10 children - Mark, Mary Jo, Patricia (Patti), Peter, the late Margaret, Frank, the late Harold Jr. (Harry), Karen, Richard (Rick) and Robert (Rob). They developed wonderful friendships in Mt. Prospect with other families that had many kids. The parents were all friends; helping each other and sharing fun times – playing cards, going to church, sharing life. Marcy was a stay at home mom, working hard to take care of the home and the kids. She didn’t drive and would walk to the grocery store and take her growing number of kids by either wagon or sled. It may have been when she lost Peter when he fell off the back of the sled into a snow bank that she started to drive. That didn’t start out well and Marcy took out the back of the garage. In 1963, Marcy and Hal fell on some hard times so Marcy had to go to work and they moved to Rolling Meadows, IL. She began working for United Airlines full time while still raising 9 children and Hal was working 2 jobs. She still took care of the home and keeping everyone happy. She would play board games and cards. She was there to listen and laugh. She always had a smile for everyone – her kids, friends, co-workers. She taught us all about patience, kindness, hard work, humility, family, friendship, laughter and love. We lost a wonderful person but God has his Angel back in heaven to continue to look after her children, her 21 grandchildren – Michael, Brian, Scott, Patrick, David, Kurt, Kristin, Katie, Brian, Jay, Andy, Allison, Claire, Lisa, Grace, Joey, Alexandra, Samantha, Sienna, Sydney and Cody, and her 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 31, from 3 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 8 p.m. at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights.
