Marian (nee Brennan) Ellsworth was called home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 to be forever joined with the love of her life, her husband Richard. Growing up in Chicago, she met Richard on a blind date which ultimately turned into a 54-year love story. After marrying, they eventually settled in Glenview where they grew their family. Marian’s proudest accomplishments were her children: Mary Ellsworth, Richard (Danuta) Ellsworth, Patrick Ellsworth and Anne (Marek Wierzba) Ellsworth. She was the cherished “grandmama” of Olivia Ellsworth and Alexander Wierzba.
She had a lovely, light-hearted, positive manner which made her the most special and devoted mother. She was loved for her good sense of humor, easy laugh and avid poker playing skills. Marian was a dedicated Catholic and very proud of her Irish heritage. Being the third youngest of ten children, she learned very early in life to be easy going and diplomatic. Relationships came naturally to Marian as she was very close to her sisters, brothers, cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was always making new friends.
After Richard passed away from an extended illness, she loved to spend her time golfing, shopping for bargains and traveling. Marian loved to visit new locations and hosted numerous family vacations all over the U.S. and traveled extensively to more than ten countries. Many trips were made well into her 80’s. She lit up any room she walked into and could always be found in a bright outfit with a warm smile on her face and with her arms wide open for a hug. Marian loved to make people laugh and lighten their spirit. The world has lost a real sunshine. We know being rejoined with Richard will be Marian’s greatest joy.
