Mary Turner Mazzenga was born on December 19, 1929 in Summit, Illinois, to David and Mary (nee Luczak) Turner. She died on July 12, 2022, in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Mrs. Mazzenga and her husband, Arthur, owned and operated Coleman Pharmacy in Palatine for 25 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights where she was their inaugural sacristan, serving in that position for over 30 years. She was in charge of coordinating weddings, funerals, and children's masses. One of her first altar boys was current NFL quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Mary loved horses, and could think of no better place to be on a summer day than Arlington Park. She was a 46-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving for a time as Chapter Regent. Mary adored fashion, and was rarely seen not sporting a stylish dress and fabulous high heels.
She is survived by her children, Peter Mazzenga of Brighton, Colorado, and Mary (Michael) Pavia, of Downers Grove, Illinois.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and her parents.
