

Mary Jo Souders Of Arlington HeightsMary Jo Souders was born on September 15, 1947 in Evanston to Frank and Susan (nee Raupp) Herff. She passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 in Glenview.Mary Jo lived in Arlington Heights her entire life, attending St James grade school, Sacred Heart of Mary high school and then settling with her husband David on Derbyshire.She poured her generous spirit, genuine interest in others and limitless love into her family, friends and the community. When asked for help, she never failed to give it. A devout Catholic, she was active in St James church, volunteering with the women"s guild, Eucharistic ministry, funeral luncheons, PADS shelter, religious education and more.Mary Jo worked at Bergner"s/Carson Pirie Scott at Randhurst mall for more than 25 years. She spent most of that time in human resources, playing a role in hiring and interacting with thousands of employees throughout her career ""interactions and relationships she valued so much that she said, "I was so lucky to find the perfect job for me."She was fun almost anywhere, at work or in her numerous social gatherings with cherished friends like bridge, sewing clubs and bowling leagues. Always curious and adventurous, she enjoyed learning about new things and travelling near and far.But the real richness in her life came from her loving relationships with family and friends ""especially her grandchildren, Hank and Jane.Her giant smile and unmistakable hearty laugh will truly be missedMary Jo is survived by her children, Brian D, (Terese) Souders and Janelle M. Souders; her grandchildren, Henry D. Souders and Jane A. Souders; her sister, Donna (Fred) Chaseley; her brothers, Fr. Jerome Herff; Ron (the late Sandra) Herff and Lawrence (the late Joanne) Herff; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by husband, David B. Souders and her parents.Visitation from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:45 am Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:30 am.
