Mike Chavich

Formerly of Buffalo Grove

Mike Chavich, 97, was born on November 24, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois to Mike and Rosie (nee Schnur) Chavich. He died Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at White Oaks at McHenry, in McHenry, Illinois.

Before retiring, Mike was a salesman for AllState Insurance. He served in the Army during WW II. He was an active member of the Park Ridge VFW for many years. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a season ticket holder for over 40 years. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's games and activities. His hobbies included reading, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. He loved his chocolate donuts and coffee!

Mike is survived by his daughters Carol (Don) Haug, Rose (the late Steven) Downs, Susanne (the late Loren) Thorstenson; and Betty (Bob) McNamara; his grandchildren; Carrie, Brian, Michael, Jeff, David, Craig, Teri, Eric, Danny, John, Ryan, Steven and Colleen. He was blessed with 31 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Elizabeth Chavich (Wife), Steven Downs (Son-in-law), Loren Thorstenson (Son-in-law), brother George and sisters Ann and Natalie.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church, 831 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Committal Service with Army Honors following at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois.
