Nancy M. Burton was born on May 2, 1949, in Chicago to Louis and Marie (nee Frank) Burton. She died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, in Evanston.
Politics was her passion. Ms. Burton was the former President of the Condominium Association at Winston Towers in Chicago. She worked for the Chicago Department of Special Events under Mayor Washington. Nancy was the Secretary for the Chicago Chapter of National Organization for Women. She worked hard to support a host of political candidates, giving generously with both her time and money. She was a strong advocate for the ERA, showing her support by marching in several rallies. In addition to her membership with several political organization, she was also a member of the Field Museum, the Chicago Botanical Garden, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Tree House Humane Society. She loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Bonnie (the late Benjamin Ponzio) Burton Ponzio; niece and nephew, Marie (Travor Thompson) and Paul Ponzio; cousins, Janice (Ron) Kootnz, and Marianne (he late Ralph) Marcus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Visitation Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 2:00 pm until the 4:00 pm Memorial Service at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment is private.
