Nancy grew up on a farm in Crown Point, IN and moved to Calumet City, IN for high school. She moved to Florida and found her calling in the medical field, moving back to Chicago to get her nursing degree. She absolutely loved being a nurse, being there for those who needed someone to listen to and take care of them. She worked at Palos Community Hospital throughout her nursing career. She “just clicked” with Phil Kayse and they married on June 12, 1976, beginning a lifelong partnership and love. Together they welcomed their only son Justin in 1980. Phil and Nancy created long-lasting memories with a love for boating, fishing, traveling, and golfing. Nancy touched so many lives with her active involvement in many organizations including being the secretary for the AAUW and even establishing their golf league. She loved spending time with her three granddaughters, and proudly supporting them in all of their activities. She was there for her friends in family in good times and bad, always willing to lend herself to help those in need or when they just needed to let loose. Even in “retirement”, she returned to nursing to provide medical treatment to migrant workers from Michigan’s farms. She will be missed but never forgotten as her many great qualities live on through her family.
