Hi All,
I just wanted once again to tell you how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your dad and grandpa. He was a wonderful ,fun and caring man.Frank, as you got up and talked about your dad,I couldn't help but think of my dad's best friend and cousin.
My dad loved the times he spent with your dad.Be it fishing, hanging out at each other's houses or being at a family event-They were always at each other's side. I wanted to share some stories with you.they may not flow, but I think you will get the idea of the closeness between them.
My memories of your parents- I remember going to your house in Chicago and Glenview and each and every time-the great food and the laughter.I always loved your mom's cooking.She was the best Italian cook I knew.Those are my earliest memories-Over the years, so many wonderful times together.One of the most funniest-My parents had a New Years Eve party.My dad asked me to lead some games.I think I was in college at the time.So, one of the games- I had everyone line up in two lines.They had to pass the apple under the neck down the line.Then I changed it up a bit-Made them pass a banana with their knees. Uncle Pat was passing it to your mom when he squeezed the banana too tight and it squirted out and made a mess all over his pants. Your dad swore up a storm-I never laughed so hard.He did too.I don't know why, but when he swore -I thought it was so funny.
Your mom and dad were special to us.What you may not know, after my brother ,Ray died. I was working the PM shift at the Hospital.So I wasn't home when they got home from work.My mom would call me at work after dinner and several times cried to me how she didn't know what to do with my dad.He sits outside on the patio by himself and cries.She said it breaks her heart. When I hung up the phone from her, I would call your dad and ask him if he could go over and visit with my dad.He gladly did. I called him just a couple of times when things were bad.But then he just made it a habit.He and your mom would stop by for visit and coffee.It was so comforting to them and truly helped them through the most difficult time of their life. My mom never knew I called and would say to me what a difference it made when they stopped in.They always made me feel so comfortable that I could call them at a moments notice and they were always so gracious to help.
Your dad didn't have any special counseling skills - what he had was the skills of being a best friend.
When I moved back to DesPlaines ,Glenn was about 3.My dad retired. your mom and dad would stop in at my parents and my parents would stop in by yours. Occassionally,I would go driving with my dad to the cemetary to visit my brother's grave.My dad would say "Let's stop by Pat and Jo's." On the sunny hot summer days, we would sit in their backyard and your mom would always bring out a watermelon.Glenn Raymond would love to eat the watermelon andspit the seeds with Papa and uncle Pat. As time went on, everytime I would go by suicide circle-He knew where Uncle Pat and Aunt Jo lived. He would get excited  and want me to stop for watermelon! It didn't matter what time of year, when we passed the area-He wanted to stop.My dad always laughed-He was with us a few times in the van whe nhe said that.
One day, we were by my mom and dad's.I think it was a few months before my dad died.Your dad stopped over to see my dad(I think the twins too!) with a white sox hat and a cubs hat.Cubs hat for George and Sox hat for Tom..The twins were thrilled. It was so thoughtful of him.He did this for no special occassion. He said he had extra hats. I think he bought it for them.He always got a kick out of george being a cubs fan in a Sox family.He didn't want to give to one to one and not the other.
Your dad always came and visited my dad up to the day he died. When he died , I called to tell him.He asked if he could come over.I said of course. He came right over.He wanted to see him one last time before he went to the funeral home. He cried.He said he was his best friend and he will miss him.
It's funny, when Nancy called to tell me Uncle Pat passed away, the first thing I thought of  was a joyous time-They are reunited again.How happy they must be. Probably fishing together in Canada.
Well, I just went through a box of tissue.Thank God for Puffs Plus.
Know he was a good man.A wonderful friend to all.A great grandpa, Dad and Uncle.  Simply put- He will be greatly missed by all.

Dear Frank, Nancy, Maggie, and Frankie, Please accept our sincere sympathy for the loss of your Dad and Grandfather. He is now, at peace, and not suffering. Keep all the good memories in your heart and this will help ease your pain a little. Love You All, Karen and Vitaly

Frank, Millie, Tony, and Patrick:
Rose and i were saddened to hear of the passing of your Dad. I have many fond memories of your Dad when I stayed at your home as I was moving back to Chicago after returning with Frank from the Peace Corps.

Most of those memories center around the dinner table where lively discussion took place under the caring eye of your Mom.  I enjoyed talking with your Dad about the World, Chicago politics, the state of the Union, and lets not forget the Cubs.  Your Dad had strong opinions about all, which made the conversation all the more interesting.  I am certain he will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.
