

Richard Horstman, loyal husband, father, and Grampy Bear, passed away August 8, 2014. He was born December 9, 1933 in Villa Park, Illinois to George and Edith Horstman and had been a resident of Mount Prospect for 50 years. Everywhere he went, he was recognized by his trade-mark yellow tape measure suspenders. Richard was a man of simple wants and needs and would talk with everyone he met. He and his beloved wife, Donna were friends for 67 years and were married for 54 of them. Richard was a hard working father of four; John, Kathy (Greg) Simunich, Sharon (Quan) Qi, and Steve. Richard is also survived by his brother, Edwin (Maureen) and sister Lois (Wayne) Baumann and was loving Grampy Bear to Aaron Horstman, Madeline Qi, and Ryan Qi. He served in the Armed Forces and was a retired printer from Laidlaw Brothers in River Forest, IL. His favorite hobbies included wood working, feeding the local squirrels and birds, caring for his cats, watching westerns, an occasional visit to the casino and puttering around his cherished woodshop. Friends and family will gather Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service, 3:00 pm at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E.
