Richard James RyanOf Arlington HeightsRichard James Ryan was born on September 21, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Lawrence and Margaret (nee Bourne) Ryan. He died Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Baraboo, Wisconsin.Before retiring Mr. Ryan was a roofer for 48 years and was a foreman for Rosenow Roofing. He was a long-time member of Local 11 United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, and a volunteer with Wheeling Township Meals on Wheels. He served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam era.Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 49 " years, Barbara nee Holtane; his children Carri (James) Buerger, Daniel (Heather) Ryan and James (fianc"e Annie Zeivel) Ryan; his grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, and Ellyse Buerger, Benjamin and Riley Ryan; his mother-in-law, Valerie Holtane; and his many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Lawrence Ryan, Jr., and Daniel Ryan; and his father-in-law, Carl A. Holtane.Richard was a loyal friend to many, had a generous heart, and his favorite thing to say each day was, "It"s a great life."Visitation from 10:30 am until time of service at 4:00 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N.
