Robb William Zerfass left this world on July 21, 2025, at the age of 62. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 35 years, Kristine Zerfass, and was cherished as a dad, father-in-law, grandpa, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Robb was born on March 19, 1963, in Chicago, IL to Cheryl VandenDolder and Robert Zerfass.
Robb excelled academically, earning not one, but two bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Accounting from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He passed the CPA exam on his first try and served his clients in their tax planning and accounting for over 35 years. His professionalism and expertise were well known throughout his career and will live on through those he mentored. Highlights of his work included time at BDO, Sikich, and most recently, his own Zee Consulting at Le Colonial, doing financial and tax planning. His goal was to keep his clients’ money in their own pockets.
After work, Robb would put down his phone to be present with family and friends. Vacations were spent in South Carolina, his Thursday nights at Brandt’s, and Saturdays at Palatine Hills Golf Club. Every year, he would go to a Bears away game and visit one new place with Kris. He enjoyed tending to his beautiful yard, watching the Cubs on his patio, dancing at weddings with his tie around his head, riding a bike on the lake shore, reading about ancient history, and always kept learning. These pastimes were often accompanied with a cigar and whiskey—Robb has been called “Le Docteur” of Old Fashioned’s. He was present, inquisitive, and engaged with everyone.
Robb is survived by his wife, Kristine Zerfass; children, Matthew (Jessica), Benjamin (Nicole), and Timothy; his mother, Cheryl (Paul) VandenDolder; siblings, Lee (Kacy) Zerfass, Shaun (Brittney) Zerfass, Craig (Deanne) Zerfass, Brett Zerfass, Beau VandenDolder; granddaughter, Riley Zerfass and a second granddaughter due this October; Godson Kheari Lark-McAndrews; as well as several nieces and nephews. Robb’s heart was so full of love, and he was loved by everyone.
He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Robert (Claudia) Zerfass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Robb’s memory to either the American Heart Association, 300 S Riverside Plaza; Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60606, or to Safe Families for Children-Chicago, 4300 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60641.
