Born on March 13, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to William and Catherine (nee Weber) Archbold, Robert was raised in Lombard, IL. He graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1961 and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in 1966.
Following his graduation, Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969. After his military service, he dedicated 35 years of his professional life to R.H. Donnelley, later Dex One, retiring in November 2004.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Debra; his loving children Peter (Jennifer) Archbold, Kerrie (James) LaFollette, and Kam (Lou) Solarte; his cherished grandchildren Joshua, Anna, Robert, Blake, Lauren, Chloe, Brooke, and Mario; and his adoring great-grandson, Kellen.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Parish, 10 N Buffalo Grove Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s honor may be made to the Marines’ Memorial Foundation.
