Robert G. Coffman passed away on Monday, March 1st, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. “Bob” was born on August 31, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary Eleanor Therese (nee Greeley) Coffman. From home, he went on to graduate from Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Bob worked and retired as an electrician of IBEW Local 134 and as a film operator for the Motion Picture Operators Union.
Bob was preceded in death by his spouse of 42 years, Judith Coffman (nee Dianovsky); as well as his parents and late brother, Jack Coffman. Robert is survived by his children Lisa (Jay) Parrott and Brian Coffman; his grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, and Kaelyn.
You would usually catch Bob at Granny’s Diner for breakfast, doing this morning’s crossword puzzle, visiting with his family, or spending time with his best pal, Lou. Bob had a passion for golf, fishing, and drag racing. He had a love for Ford Mustangs and would race whenever he could. He taught his grandchildren the art of catching a big fish. When at home, Bob enjoyed taking naps with his dog, Smokey, and would eat all the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream he could.
Robert was honest, quick to make you laugh, and a great listener. Bob was a very wise soul and gave crucial life advice when able. He will be missed dearly by all of those who knew him.
A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice in his honor.
