Roger J. Pettinger, 84, of Palatine was born July 4, 1929 in Wilmette to the late Egidius and Anne Pettinger and passed away April 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Roger served on the Evanston Fire Department and retired after 20 years of service with the rank of captain. Roger was the beloved husband of the late June Pettinger (nee Carlson); loving father of Sandra (the late Chuck) Gibney, Betty Pawlowski, Ronald (Julie) Pettinger, and Roger (Nancy) Pettinger; proud grandfather of Kristin, Kerry, Brett, Elise, Curt, Adam, and Robyn; great grandfather of Reagan, Charlie, Nathaniel, Dionne, Chase, and Leopold. Visitation Tuesday, 3:00 - 8:00 pm, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers Wednesday, 9:15 am at the funeral home proceeding to St. Theresa Church, 465 N. Benton St., Palatine, IL 60067 for funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
