Of Arlington Heights
Rose Mary Rago was born on May 13, 1929 in Chicago to Anthony and Rose (nee Giampietro) Rago. She died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Arlington Heights.
Ms. Rago worked as a manager for the Illinois Department of Employment Security in Chicago for 42 years. She retired 29 years ago to help care for her great-nephews. She was a member of the Providence High School (Chicago) Alumni Association Board for 71 years. Rose valued the lifelong friendships she made through the Providence Alumni. In her younger years she loved bowling. She and her sister, Theresa Ann, enjoyed cooking for family and friends. They spent many years making Easter Calzone and homemade spaghetti sauce continuing the family tradition from their parents. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune in the evening with her sister, Theresa Ann and cousin, Sr. Dorothy Larson. She cherished spending time with and talking to her friends and family on the phone. Rose always put the needs of others before her own and was a devout Christian. She especially took great pride and joy in watching her nieces, nephew and great nephews grow up. She was loved by many who called her “Auntie” and will be missed by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her nieces and nephew; Mary (Salvatore) DiCarlo and Carol (the late Steven) Milke and William (Jana) Church; great-nephews, Santo DiCarlo, Nick Milke, Erik Church, Mario DiCarlo, Tim Milke, and Alex Church, and cousin, Sr. Dorothy Larson, S.P.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony (Rose) Rago; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa (Ronald) Church; and cousin, Maryann (Dr. Louis) Castagna.
