Salvatore C. Latona

Salvatore C. Latona, age 90, of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home on Thursday morning, December 14, 2023. Salvatore, born in Sicily, Italy on October 3, 1933, was the son of the late Gaetano & Elisa (nee Gargano) Latona.

Beloved husband of Pietra Latona (nee Sciortino). Loving father of Luisa (John) Campobasso, Marianna (Richard) Gigele, and Regina (Scott) Cassavoy. Beloved grandfather of Christopher Gigele, Matthew (Lisa) Gigele, Dana Campobasso, Michael (Jaimie) Gigele, John Campobasso Jr, Teresa Campobasso, Salvatore Cassavoy and Alyssa Cassavoy; Great grandfather to Anthony and Giuliana Gigele; Brother to Rose (nee Latona) (John, dec.) Taddeo, Anthony (Luisa) Latona, Frank (Theresa) Latona, Mary (nee Latona) (Ron) Zisko; Brother-in-law to the Sciortino family, and uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his sister Anna (Anthony) Longo and nephew James O’Connor.

Salvatore was a longtime employee of Florsheim Shoes in Chicago for over 40 years.

Visitation Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 10am until time of mass 11am at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church 440 S. Mitchell Ave Arlington Heights, IL. 60005. Entombment All Saints Cemetery
