

Thomas grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He attended high school at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. He went on to be highly educated at multiple universities including; Regis University in Denver, Colorado, Loyola University Chicago, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. He had a lengthy basketball career throughout both his high school and college years. He enjoyed taking up skiing during his time in Colorado. He had such a love for the sport of golf, which he especially enjoyed taking trips to golf with friends in many places across America. Tom was a proud and successful business owner. Tom enjoyed his work trips throughout his life. They gave him many experiences visiting new places. He especially enjoyed it when he could take his wife and son with him. He was a very loving and devoted husband to Jan for 49 years. Tom and Jan were adoptive parents of Michael and Kim, as well as foster parents to other children throughout some years. They both enjoyed being a part of a bowling league for some time. Tom was also a proud coach to his daughter's soccer team when she was young. Tom and Jan both loved to run marathons and they kept their passion for walking as years went on. Tom was a hardcore sports fan and was especially a dedicated fan of The Chicago Bears and The Chicago White Sox. He loved being a season ticket holder to The Bears for years. He especially enjoyed times when he could take family and friends to enjoy the games with him.
Tom was an extremely devoted Catholic. Both him and Jan were members of Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights. They rarely missed a weekend mass. They loved to serve and devote their time to Wayside. They especially had hearts to serve the homeless community in PADS.
In recent years, Tom picked up a love for playing friendly games of pool with his neighbors.
Above all, Tom took great pride in being a loving father and grandfather to his children. He made a very special and loving impact on their hearts forever. He will without a doubt be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Thomas was preceded in death by his adorned Wife of 49 years; Janet (née Benedetti), Father; Thomas Arthur Hopkins Sr., Mother; Mary Hopkins (née Krueger), Step-Father; Hal Moisand, Daughter; Kimberly Podlin (née Hopkins).
Visitation Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 11:30am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12:30pm at Our Lady of the Wayside Church 440 South Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Interment will follow at the chapel of St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
