Growing up, Warren was a member at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Detroit, MI and a student there from Kindergarten to 8th grade. He then attended Detroit Lutheran High (DLH) and graduated in 1955.
After graduation, he was selected for a training program at Henry Ford College to become an electrician. Unfortunately, that program was cancelled. Warren then began working at National Bank of Detroit. An opportunity arose and he applied to IBM. His life-long IBM career began in the 60's and spanned until his retirement in the 90's. His IBM jobs took him from Detroit to Los Angeles and finally to Chicago. He held numerous positions from Distribution Center Manager to Human Resources staff. IBM called him to return to work as the Human Resources Transition Manager for another 10 years.
Warren was a sweet, kind and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He always called his wife and two daughters his "three queens". When his grandsons came along, they became his "three kings". The cherry on top was his two great grandchildren.
He was a long standing member at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. He was active with the Lutheran Laymen's League, served on the School Board of Education and enjoyed singing with the choir.
Warren loved his family lake vacations and was an avid fisherman. He took up the art of stained glass making and made many lasting treasures for the family.
Warren is survived by his wife Mary (nee McCabe) Newman of 63 years, his daughters Susan (William) Mensie and Nancy (Tim) Egloff; his grandsons Jason (Merideth), Zachary and Jacob; his great grandchildren - Jonathan and Emma and by his siblings Jeanette (Gary) Taylor, Linda (late Tom) Clark and Joyce (Keith) Newberry and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, and his grand dogs, Otis and Zeke.
