Born on January 30, 1943, in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Wayne's journey through life has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He departed this world in Arlington Heights, IL, surrounded by the love of his family and the very community he helped to flourish.
Wayne was a devoted family man, the loving husband of Sheila Lundstrom for a remarkable 60 years. He was the cherished son of the late Ethel and Paul Lundstrom, a legacy he carried with honor and grace. His role as a father to Paul (Katrina Head) Lundstrom and Emily (Dave) Baker was filled with lessons of integrity, hard work, and compassion, traits he instilled in his children by example. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Kailey, Kendra, and Olivia, and five great-grandchildren. As a fond brother to Roger Lundstrom, and caring uncle to Erik and Glenn, Wayne nurtured his family with gentleness and unwavering support.
Professionally, Wayne was known for owning and operating Lundstrom's Nursery from 1957 until his retirement in 2012. His passion for top-notch landscaping turned the family business into a beloved local institution, a testament to his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Wayne's work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in the lush, green spaces he created, leaving a living legacy that continues to beautify his hometown and beyond.
Wayne's love for life was apparent in his diverse interests. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, bringing the same enthusiasm to cheering for his teams as he did to every aspect of his life. Recognized as a very smart man with a big heart, Wayne always took care of those around him, a trait that endeared him to many. His love for golf was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with friends, nature, and the peaceful moments in life.
Above all, Wayne was a soulmate to his wife, Sheila. Their enduring love story was one of mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering support. Visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The funeral service will start at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL.
