Bill and I had a running joke between us. No matter what, he called me Cap'n Dan, and I renamed him Lt (j.g.) Bill. During the Abbott Labs golf season, we had a ball on the golf course. Neither one of us was a good player, but we didn't care because the ten of us just wanted to have fun! We had a lot of beers afterwards and shared our bad stories. Your smile and laughter will missed. My deepest sorrow to his family and friends

William, rest in peace... Danita, my condolences and heartfelt sorrow goes out to you during this sad and difficult time.  Having worked with you for 12+ years now, I know the commitment and love you've had for your husband and family and friends.  You have lost a great friend and partner, I hope you find comfort in the many, many  happy memories you shared.  You are an amazing woman and I have first hand seen how you handled life's most difficult times with grace and wisdom.  Rest, relax and heal in your time and way.  Your family at work is here for you!

Bill and I worked together at Abbott, He was always kind and had a smile and a story or two to share. I will always Remember him as being one of the good guys and one of the gang. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to Bills Family and other friends as well!

Bill was a great help to me when I joined the Abbott golf league officers. His warm smile, kind words and good nature were always appreciated at the golf course every summer. He will be missed!

Met Bill  in grammar school, then through high school.  Talked to him several times through the years.  My sincere condolences to Dee, Chris and Steve, Maryann and family.  His personality shined every time you talked to him.  He will be missed.

Bill had an infectious smile and laugh. Always upbeat, positive, very generous, and so much fun to be around. We enjoyed going to dinner at wonderful restaurants with Bill and Danita. Bill loved music and we are thankful we had the opportunity to attend some awesome concerts with him and his lovely wife. We will miss Bill and the fun times we had. We will cherish the memories of the amazing times we spent together. Sending our love and deepest condolences to Danita and the entire Schmidt family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bill through work and the golf league at Abbott. He was a kind and caring individual, who always had a smile and we always shared a laugh together. Please accept my sincere sympathies at his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this tremendous loss.

I am so happy to have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bill, we enjoyed talking and sharing stories about our families, especially our grandchildren. My sister passed away in March and when I returned to work Bill had left a beautiful sympathy card on my desk and then came over to chat with me, personally express his condolences and make sure that I was alright. That's just the kind of person he was, along with being very laid back and fun to talk and laugh with. My desk is right across from his and I miss him already, but I know he's alright. I am praying for his wife, children and especially his grandchildren whom I know all miss him very much. God Bless you all and I pray that you find comfort in each other through God's will.

Danita and family, I am sorry to hear about Bill's passing. I had no idea until today. I ask a co-worker if he had heard from Bill and he told me the news. I remember when I first reported to Bill, I thought this guy is cool and funny. He helped me in my career and my golf game. I look forward to playing golf either during league or on Fridays. Bill would always ask how my family was doing, especially Frankie our son. I do treasure the memories and laughs we shared. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Dear DanitaWe were so sorry to hear about Bill.  Our hearts are breaking.  You were always such a special couple.  It is hard to image one of you without the other.  So many memories come flooding back. We were privileged to have been your friends for over forty years.  From the moon landing to the days of twitter.  So Danita we say to you that we will keep you and your family in our thoughts and our prayers in the difficult days ahead.  And to Bill we say “Goodbye Old Friend “we will miss you. We are so sad to hear about Bill's sudden passing.  We will always remember the times we were able to be together for family events and to visit with Bill.  He will truly be missed.  Our prayers go out to him, Danita, his sons and and wonderful families.
