

Wollert R. “Wally” Ellertson, 96 of Arlington Heights, beloved husband of Esther (nee Ehlers) was born April 11, 1919 in Chicago to Wollert and Ida (nee Nelsen) Ellertson and passed away November 22, 2015. Wally was a WWII veteran, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He flew 67 combat missions in the B-26 Martin Marauder Medium Bomber over enemy strongholds in Northern Europe and the 31st mission he flew was on “D-Day”. After his military service, Wally worked as a Design & Sales Engineer with Sauerman Brothers for 24 years. He then joined Process Design Associates as a Project Manager and worked until his retirement in 1981. He was active in Scouting, sports, golf and bridge and was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church for 66 years. Wally and Esther were married in 1943 and moved to their present home in Arlington Heights in 1949. They were blessed with three children, Dennis (Jeannine) Ellertson, Karen Ellertson and Kevin Ellertson, two grandchildren, Kristin Ellertson and Derek (Cheryl) Ellertson and one great-grandson, Daniel Ellertson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Winnifred (late Marvin) Brand and an infant brother Warren. Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2015 from 3-7 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Saturday, November 28 at Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Faith Lutheran Church appreciated.
