Alan T’Challa “Mookie” Wright, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend passed away on November 3, 2023, at the age of 49. Alan was born on September 9, 1974, at Brotman Memorial Hospital in Culver City, California to Velma Drakes and Alan Wright.
Alan was raised by his mother and stepfather, Charles Lotts, Sr., in Inglewood, California. In 1985, Alan, his mother, and younger siblings moved to Moreno Valley where he attended Butterfield Elementary School. Alan graduated from Valley View High School with the class of 1994. Alan served in the United States Air Force and the United States Army.
In 1995, Alan welcomed his first child, Isaiah Alan Wright, and in 2003, his daughter, Hope Wright. In 2008, Alan welcomed his third child, son Trustin Wright. In 2010, Alan moved to San Antonio, Texas where he welcomed his youngest child, daughter Mya Wright, in 2011. After being honorably discharged from the military, Alan worked in sales with his father, Jeffrey, and later for the Social Security Administration and the Office of Veteran Affairs as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist.
Alan was passionate about helping disabled veterans secure military benefits, housing, medical care, and mental health services. Alan always dressed to impress, loved old school music, dancing, dominoes, and hosted and played in dominoes tournaments. Alan loved Kobe Bryant, his Los Angeles Lakers, and the LA Dodgers and faithfully represented his hometown sports teams.
Most of all, Alan loved his family which included his children, siblings, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. At a young age, Alan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, read his Bible, and looked to the Lord for guidance and wisdom.
Throughout his life, Alan was fortunate to be loved and cherished by fathers, Alan Wright, Charles Lotts, Sr., who preceded him in death, Eric Amey and Jeffrey Lee. Alan’s beloved grandmother Leslie “Madear” Johnson and his cousin, Michael “Tee-Tot” Williams, preceded him in death.
Alan is survived by his devoted mother, Velma Drakes Lee, and father, Jeffrey Lee of Arlington, Texas; father Alan Wright of Santa Monica, California, Eric Amey of Jacksonville, Florida, son Isaiah Wright of Seattle Washington, daughter Hope Wright of Moreno Valley, California, son Trustin Wright of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter Mya Wright of San Antonio, Texas; sister April Johnson and brother-in-law, Randy Johnson of Arlington, Texas, brothers Charles Lotts, Jr. of Irvine, California and Christopher Amey of Jacksonville, Florida; stepsister and stepbrothers Shacari Lotts, Emmir Lotts and Zhyon Lotts of Arizona, stepsister, Chenatta Lotts of Los Angeles, California; grandmother Juanita Wright of Los Angeles, California, as well as aunts, Willie Jean Bruce, Gladys Pierre, Jackie Williams, Virginia Johnson, Yvonne Wright, Jean Lotts, Chris Henry, Carol Lotts, Brenda Lotts, uncles Larry Johnson, William Johnson, Wallace Johnson, Eric Wright, Johnny Wright, and Anthony Lotts, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved Alan very much and will forever cherish his memory.
