Amelia was born on October 27, 1930 to Felicidad de Castro and Bernabe Ocampo in Manila, Philippines.
Her childhood was centered around school, where she excelled academically, and her faith, which she nurtured by frequently attending Mass. She was an active member of her church choir.
After graduating from University of Sto. Tomas, she went on to finish her college degree at University of the East. She was sent for further studies at Washington DC, before getting married.
Amelia married her one and only beau, Miguel Vidamo Aure, on March 14, 1956 and they spent the next 68 years together. She raised six children while juggling her career with remarkable grace and dedication.
She worked at the Department of Labor in the Philippines, achieving its highest rank by the time she retired. Afterward, she migrated to Daly City, California, where she made her home a haven for family and friends. She eventually moved to Mansfield, Texas, where she lived for the past 12 years.
Fondly called “Mommy Aure,” Amelia was a generous, thoughtful and caring woman who dedicated most of her life thinking about how to help others. She was a very pious devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary, starting her daily routine with praying the rosary and attending Daily TV Mass online. She was actively involved in the Catholic Charismatic movement in the Philippines (Loved Flock) and California (Ever Faithful Prayer Community).
This year, she enjoyed going to YMCA attending the Enhanced Fitness class three times a week.
Amelia was predeceased by her daughter, Millete, son, Enrico, and brother, Romulo.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Miguel, and children, Margarita, Enrique (Regina), Aurora (Roberto del Rosario), Marie Rose (Michael Flieder), daughter-in-law, Catherine, grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Joshua (Salma), Christienne (Patrick Maulion), Chelsea, Jonathan, Nicolas, Jacob, Genevieve and Dylan; her great-grandson, Davian; and her sisters, Lydia, Rebecca and Flordeliza.
