Barbara Jane Simpson, known as Jane, of Fort Worth TX passed on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the age of 72. She was born in Independence KS to Lewis Leonard and Helen Church Corporon, the 3rd of 6 children. She graduated from Ponca City OK High School and attended Tonkawa OK Junior College as well as Diablo Valley College in Concord CA.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Helen, by her brother, Dr. Bill Corporon, and by her husband of 28 years, Ben Simpson. She is survived by 4 sisters and their spouses: Taylor Parker (Stan Parker), Nancy Corporon (Doreen DiBiagio), Dr. Jo Turner (Steve Turner) and Gael Martin (Dave Martin) as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.
Jane was a devoted Christian, a dedicated Bible reader, and a believer in the power of prayer. Her faith was strong and sweet. Some of her favorite hymns were Love Lifted Me, The Old Rugged Cross, I Go to the Garden Alone, There's a Mansion Just Over the Hilltop and I'll Fly Away.
Jane loved all animals, but held a special place in her heart for cats and horses. She loved her cat Skrat and, really, pretty much all cats. As for horses, even a sad, sway-backed nag would elicit a "She's so beautiful!" from Jane.
Jane was spunky her whole life. She was strong-willed, and a jokester. She was generous with the gifts she had been given; a kind soul, an ornery wit, a vibrant smile, hugs and kisses. She would occasionally paint her nose red and don a clown’s wig to brighten her day and to bring some joy and silliness into the lives of the staff and her fellow residents at the nursing home. Her next door neighbor of over 20 years told us that “Jane always had time for me.” The manager at the bank greeted Jane warmly at each visit. The folks at What-A-Burger in Forest Hill TX regarded Jane as their official greeter, and supplied her with polo shirts and caps. Servers at various restaurants came over to our table to greet Jane and to tell her they’d missed seeing Ben and her. One server even gave Jane her cell phone number and told her to call if there was anything she could ever do for her. ICU nurses loved Jane’s stories and jokes. She inspired kindness in others, like her cousins Steve and Sandy Hughes who spent countless hours shopping and doing DMV and Social Security chores with her. And there are many more stories like this. In essence, Jane was loved and appreciated by those who got to know her. In return, if she met you, you felt loved, even if only for that moment in time as your paths crossed.
Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home in Arlington TX is in charge of arrangements. There will be no memorial service, but those who wish to honor Jane’s memory can donate to one of the following organizations: Humane Society of North Texas, hsnt.org, (817) 332-4768; Sound Equine Options, SoundEquineOptions.org, (503) 489-9092; Jesse Duplantis Ministries (Go Ye Program), jdm.org, (985) 764-2000.
