

Born in Marseilles, Illinois on April 21, 1934 to Otto and Cleo Bergner, David grew up in El Reno, Oklahoma. While at El Reno High School. David (Dave) played football, basketball, and was in the band. He attended Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University) where he met the love of his life, Delores Ann Green. They married in 1956 and he began a long career in management at Montgomery Ward taking them from Oklahoma to Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, back to Oklahoma, and finally to Arlington, Texas where he retired.
When Dave wasn't working, you'd likely find him on the golf course, the tennis court, or on a lake fishing. He and Delores made lifelong friends through Bridge groups and later, country western dancing. After retiring, Dave still enjoyed golf and fishing, and added a love for woodworking and video games. He could challenge any of his grandkids to Mario Cart or Donkey Kong. He also loved every kind of sport, but was a fierce fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. HIs keen mind, sharp wit, and generous spirit endeared him to all he met.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Delores; their son, Brian; daughters, Debra Bergner Neumann (Jeff), and Beverly Bergner Tucker (Jonathan). He was proud Peepaw to Krystal, Chase, Jeffrey, Joshua, Madison, Jonathan, and Christopher; and great grandfather to six. He is survived by siblings, Mark and Paul; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne; and his parents, Otto and Cleo.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:30AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 S Bowen Road, Arlington, Texas 76016.
