David Lee Thompson, age 74 of Arlington, passed away on August 27, 2019. He was born on April 21, 1945 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Truman Thompson and Margaret Ann Brower Thompson. Dave married Virginia Maria Sanders and they celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage together before his passing.
Dave and Virginia spent many years living in north Virginia, moving to Arlington in 1994. Dave was a respected lawyer, having served even as a district attorney general. In the 1980's, Dave returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. Dave was a brilliant man who loved to read, study history and politics, and was always learning something new. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking, and bird watching. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, always encouraging and supporting them in their new ventures.
Dave is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter Kelly Thompson and fiancée Dean Gilbert; sister Joyce Middendorf. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Thompson.
