Elena Malone, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at 6:25 a.m. at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. She was surrounded by the love she gave so generously throughout her life.
Born in the Philippines, Elena was the eldest daughter of Bartulome (†) and Catalina De Guia, and one of 11 siblings. At just 25 years old, she moved to the United States with fierce determination and a dream of a better life. Though she never had the chance to finish school, she defied expectations and lived a life of strength, independence, and success on her own terms. Elena showed her family what it means to survive with grace and to work hard no matter the odds.
She was the proud mother of Michelle and James (†), and a deeply devoted grandmother to Levi. Elena was known for her fiery spirit, love of animals and children, and unshakable sense of justice. Elena was a devoted sister, a loyal friend, and someone who sacrificed everything to care for her family, a word she extended far beyond blood to include friends, coworkers, and anyone lucky enough to know her.
Elena was known for her independence, her sense of justice, and her love of life. She adored animals and children, filled her home with beautiful clothes, shoes, and oriental art, and loved karaoke, dancing, cooking for others, walking with her friends at the park, and shopping to her heart’s content. She adored her grandson, was incredibly proud of her children’s accomplishments, and always dreamed big for her family. Her strength shaped the generations after her and her memory will be a light we carry forward.
Besides flowers, please consider doing something Elena would have done: cook for someone you love, sing out loud, feed a stray, or simply be kind. She is finally reunited with her son James. May they dance together now, and may her light live on in all who carry her memory.
