Fidencio (Fred or Junior) Valentino Navarrete, 83, of Arlington, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2025. He was born on June 17, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Fidencio Navarrete and Victoria (Arias) Navarrete.
Fred was married to Elvira (Gonzales) Navarrete, his high school sweetheart, for 62 years. In addition to Elvira, Fred is survived by his daughter, Lisa Aler of Arlington, TX; son, Robert Navarrete of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Ty Navarrete, John David (JD) Aler, Maximiliano (Max) Navarrete, and Aria (Sofia) Navarrete; brother, Richard Navarrete and sister-in-law, Jill, of Saginaw, TX, and brother-in-law, Dr. Irvin Jondahl. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Olga Francis Jondahl.
Fred graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1959 where he began his love of music as a trumpet player. He continued his education at Texas Christian University, participating in the TCU marching band, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree in 1963.
After becoming a Certified Public Accountant, Fred worked nearly five decades in the accounting and auditing industry for Peat Marwick and Mitchell, Alcon, DART, Fort Worth ISD, and Texas A & M University. In addition to his accounting career, he was honored to serve in the Army National Guard and Air Force Reserve. He retired with 23 years of service from the Air Force Reserve in 1990 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Fred was a hard worker who strived to care and provide for his family.
Fred enjoyed regularly traveling to Colorado and Lake Tahoe to ski and to New Orleans to listen to jazz. He also enjoyed golfing with his father and son. Spending time with his grandchildren and attending their school and extracurricular activities brought him great joy.
In his later years, Fred was dedicated to sharing his faith with children and served as a children’s leader in the Bible Study Fellowship program for about 10 years until he was no longer able, due to Parkinson symptoms.
Although Fred will be deeply missed, our memories of his unconditional love will continue to inspire us. May we find comfort in knowing he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we will see him again.
A committal service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
