

Janet was the 2nd child in a family of 9 children and the first girl child, a loving sister to Pastor Oloo Otieno, Jerusha Otieno, Awino Otieno Denis, Odymah – Oguttu Otieno, Aoko Agola Otieno, Dani Akinyi Otieno, Anyango Aloo Otieno and Owino Ojuok Otieno.
Janet was a loving wife to Benson Shitote and a loving mother to Winston Shitote and Christiana Shitote.
Janet started her Nursery Education at St. Christopher Nursery School in Nakuru Town in 1982, in 1984 She joined Lenana Primary School, State House – Road, in 1993 she joined Nakuru day secondary school where she got her diploma whereby in September 1998, she was admitted at The University of Nairobi for BSc in humanity.
In the year 1999 Janet started her BSc in science at Texas Southern University and later transferred to Texas Woman University for her BSc Degree in Nursing. After her graduation, Janet started working at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas where she worked for 10 years until she got married to Benson Shitote and relocated to Arlington, Texas.
Janet married Benson September 12, 2008 in Houston Texas. She then moved to Dallas area. She was hired by Texas Health Resources, Fort Worth where she worked for the past 11 years. They had two children Winston Shitote nine years old in fourth grade and Cristian Shitote seven years old in second grade both at Newman International Academy.
Janet went back to school and graduated with a Masters degree in nursing from Walden University in 2017. She received her certification as a nurse practitioner the same year.
Janet and her husband attended and were members of Gateway Church in Grand Prairie Texas. Janet loved serving others, listening to gospel music, cooking, reading, encouraging the young generation and spending time with her husband and kids.
In October 2017, Janet was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She graciously and courageously endured many rounds of chemo, radiation and surgeries.
Janet bravely fought cancer for two years; she was promoted to glory September 8, 2019.
Janet was an extraordinary woman, loved God with her whole heart and she always put God first above everything. She was a very loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, cousin and a friend to many. She was a very big giver even when she did not have, she would give and give without whining in that she made sure all her siblings went to school. She was hardworking and strong willed.
She will be greatly missed by many, but more especially by her family, husband and two precious children Winston and Christiana whom she loved dearly. Her most favorite Psalm was Psalm 23, and her most favorite Bible verse was 1st Corinthian 13:13, love never fails.
