John was born on August 30, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan to William and Dorothy (Roths) Grafe. He was a graduate of Wayne State University and spent the majority of his career working for El Paso Natural Gas Company.
He married his first wife, Marilyn Grafe, in 1968 and remained married for 30 years until her passing in December of 2002. He married his second wife, Susan Gibson-Grafe in December of 2006 and spent many wonderful years enjoying retirement in both Colorado and Texas.
John was a talented artist and musician who loved his family and was quick to share a funny joke. He found joy in participating in barbershop quartets and singing in the church choir.
John is survived by his second wife, Susan; his daughters from his first wife, Ann Ford, Margaret Grafe, Carole Grindrod and Lesley Grafe; along with his granddaughters, Emily Ford, Elizabeth Ford and Natalie Ford. John dearly loved his children’s spouses whom he is also survived by; David Ford, Kasey Grindrod and Trevor Davies.
