Larry was born in Hutchinson, KS, to Edgar and Floy Faler, October 2, 1936. He grew up in Kansas and married the love of his life Carolyn, June 1, 1958. Larry graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1959. Shortly after graduation Larry and Carolyn moved to Great Bend, KS where he had taken a job with KCKT-TV as a weatherman; he also covered sports and news broadcasts. In the early 1960’s they moved to Amarillo, TX where Larry had received a promotion to Account Executive for KFDA-10. Larry also worked for KFDA as a Sales Manager for more than a dozen years before finally moving on to his job with the US Chamber of Commerce; where he worked until retirement.
Larry was an honest, hardworking man, who always lived life by the Golden Rule. He was compassionate, always devoting time to his family and friends. He loved watching the children play and finding ways to make them laugh. He always looked forward to “The Plan”, a special way Larry would refer to future birthday and special events. He absolutely loved going to the State Fair of Texas and experiencing all the new sites and attractions. Larry had a great passion for all things sports. He enjoyed watching all his favorite teams play and watched golf tournaments on television. Larry loved to read and travel to new places with his wife after retirement; one of his most memorable trips was to Finway Park in Boston where the Red Sox play. On Larry and Carolyn’s 50th wedding anniversary they decided to take a trip to retrace their Honeymoon steps; except this time around they added Yellowstone Park to the venue.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Faler and Floy Mendell.
