Lee attended Lincoln High School in Camden Arkansas. In 1958 at the young age of 19, Lee moved from Arkansas to California. San Diego is where he met Rosie Marie Lewis they were married on April 17th, 1962. They shared their lives together for 21 years and raised six children. They divorced in 1983 but remained friendly over the years.
Everyone who met Lee never forgot his passion for hard work and perseverance. He always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was constantly working towards making a better life for his family. Lee was a jack-of-all trades and at one point he worked at Bob Park Auto as an Auto Parts Manager. After working as a mechanic, he decided he wanted to work for himself and started several businesses. Throughout the years he owned a car wash, barbecue restaurant and a clothing store, also in 1980 he acquired a real estate license. Although Lee enjoyed being an entrepreneur, he also loved driving long distances and became a Commercial Truck Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked for worked for System 99 Trucking Company for 20 years.
Lee enjoyed being on the open road and had extensive knowledge about interstates throughout the United States. He was always happy to share information about how to get somewhere quickly and where to find the best rest spots and eateries along the way.
In 1995, Lee packed up his life in San Diego and relocated to Euless, Texas and in 2003 he moved to Arlington. He really loved living in Arlington and enjoyed leisure activities like fishing, biking, and playing golf. He was avid football fan but more importantly he loved the Dallas Cowboys.
Lee passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on November 29th at home in Arlington, Texas where he was surrounded by family. He is survived by his children, Lee Jr. (Sigrid) Sherman II, Phillip (Maricia) Sherman, Harold Sherman & Terri Harris, Yvonne (Arthur) Jackson Jr., former spouses Rose Qalinle and Patricia Hooks, stepdaughters Arlene (Kenneth) Summers and Angela Walker along with his brother Joe (Helen) Sherman and sisters Maxine Campbell and Lucille Lowe. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren along with an abundance of family and friends.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents Willie Helen and John Dewey Sherman and sister Evelyn Lena Bell Hunter.

A visitation for Lee will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:30 AM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A graveside service will occur Friday, December 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
