After many months of declining physical and mental health, Martha Jane Robertson passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, November 24, 2025. Her long season of suffering has ended, and she is finally at peace, reunited in heaven with the loved ones who went before her.
Born in 1942, Martha lived a full, joyful, and generous life for 83 years. For most of that time, she was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother to two children—despite everything they put her through. “World’s Greatest Mom” was a phrase used more than once in her home, and it was well earned.
In 1963, she married Raymond Robertson, a good and loving man who knew she was “the one” after their very first date: a high school football game. Their 53 years of marriage were filled with love, partnership, laughter, and the inevitable ups and downs that come with raising a family. They supported each other unfailingly until his passing in 2016.
Martha was proud to be a nurse and spent many years caring for others in doctors’ offices and hospitals—often coming home with dinnertime stories that became family legend. She later put her career on hold to be a full-time mother while her children were in school. When she returned to nursing, she found her true calling working with seniors at a nursing care facility, a job she loved dearly until an injury forced her to step away.
In the later chapters of her life, Martha became a childcare professional. To many delighted two-year-olds, she was simply “Miss Martha,” a title she wore with pride and affection.
Her Christian faith was central to her life. While living in Beaumont, she was deeply involved in her church—helping in the front office, supporting Mother’s Day Out, and pitching in wherever she was needed.
Martha treasured family gatherings. Her happiest memories included holiday celebrations in Markham, camping trips with the Robertson side of the family, and summer vacations at the Crystal Beach rental. These moments anchored her life with joy and connection.
She loved country music, and in the Robertson household, HeeHaw on Sunday nights was required viewing—always accompanied by homemade pizza. She was especially devoted to Elvis Presley, whose music she often said carried her through difficult times. She and Ray visited Graceland more than once, and she firmly believed that all music was best enjoyed loudly.
While listening to her favorite songs or watching classic television—I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, or Gunsmoke—Martha could almost always be found crafting. She enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, and every creative hobby she could get her hands on, but needlework was her favorite. Cross-stitch and embroidery pieces created by her skilled hands still hang proudly in her daughter’s home, cherished reminders of her talent and love.
Having outlived her siblings and her beloved husband, Martha is survived by her daughter Renee (her “pride & joy”), her son Phillip (her “precious”), her grandson Aaron, and her daughter-in-law Lesa. She will be missed every single day.
