Mary was born on June 15, 1924 in Flatonia, Texas, the third oldest of nine children, to Justimus (Jerry) Branecky and Rosalie Kubenka. She was not able to attend school beyond the 8th grade because of the need to support the family. In the mornings, she worked in the family farm house in Flatonia, cleaning house, baking bread, and preparing lunch. In the afternoons she worked in the fields. She was especially proud that she earned her high school GED at the age of 55.
She married to Edmond W. Boenisch, Sr. in Flatonia on Jan. 12, 1947, after a short courtship. Ed and Mary's marriage was truly a match made in heaven. Their 66 years of love and devotion to each other have been and will continue to be an unforgettable example of what a marriage truly means. Mary and Ed traveled extensively over their 28 years of military service in the Air Force. While Mary's main focus was being a devoted wife and mother, she worked a few part time jobs to help support the family. In 1973, they retired to Amarillo, Texas. At the request of their children they later moved to Arlington, Texas where they have resided since 2001. Mary enjoyed and was proud of her hobbies of crocheting and quilting. She made and donated nine quilts in nine years. The last quilt was auctioned for $2,200 to benefit St. Joseph's Church in Amarillo, Texas. In addition, while she was able, she made quilts for the children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Rosalie Branecky, and siblings Eugene (Delores) Branecky, Frances (Frank) Kindla, and Johnnie (Mae) Branecky.
Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edmond W. Boenisch, Sr. They were blessed with six loving children and their spouses, Edmond Jr. (Linda) Boenisch of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Catherine (Lloyd) Hall of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Kenneth (Kathryn) Boenisch of Edmond, Oklahoma; Thomas (Barbara) Boenisch of Alvarado, Texas; Sharon (Robert) Deats of Arlington, Texas; and Joyce (Dennis) Brown of Arlington, Texas. They have 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren with uncountable more to come. Mary is also survived by sisters Rosalie (Roland) Boysen and Evelyn Herd and brothers Jerome Branecky, Arnold Branecky and George Branecky.
